I’m delighted to be featured as Guest Artist for the month of April at The Purbeck Artisan Yard – a vibrant creative hub in the centre of Wareham, Dorset. The Yard is home to a collective of local artists, upcyclers and makers, showcasing and selling their work year-round. It’s a space full of character, creativity, and that unmistakeable sense of community that makes Dorset’s creative scene so special.
The building itself has a rich and varied history. During the Second World War it served as a fire station, before later becoming a builder’s yard. Since 2016 it has found new life as the Artisan Yard – its current incarnation preserving the building’s charm while giving it a fresh, creative purpose.
The vision for the Yard came from James Warren and his wife Becky. James is also the owner of The Salt Pig, a much-loved urban farm shop and café with locations in Wareham and Swanage. The Salt Pig is known for its commitment to locally-sourced produce – from meat and fish to vegetables, cheese, bread and real ales – reflecting a deep-rooted passion for supporting local producers.
That same ethos is at the heart of the Artisan Yard. I’m thrilled to be part of it this April and to share my work alongside such a talented group of local creatives.
